Selection

How is selection made?

Because the ideal selection through audition after a pre-selection on file is made is not to be considered for the time being , for obvious economic reasons , taking into consideration the immensity of the region concerned, the selection of the candidates will be made from a distance. As a result, every candidate will have to send the following information to the CMDC:

By email:

  1. A curriculum-vitae (available on web site : www.nesselfen.org)
  2. The self-presentation  of the candidate in a maximum of six lines , using a free style.
  3. A full-length photo, quite clear , boys wearing shorts and girls jerkins.
  4. From one to three photos maximum, quite clear, in motion ( classes, workshops, shows…).
  5. Answering a short evaluation test ( which the candidates will receive in due time).

By mail:

One video, clear and good quality DVD or VHS aids, lasting from ten to fifteen minutes (classes, workshops, shows, etc).

     Fees ?

The CMDC is a private institution  that favours grant-holders. The fees, which will be paid directly to the CMDC, amounts to Four thousand euros ( 4000,00)and will be distributed as follows:

  1. Study expenses: Two thousand euros (€ 2.000,00)
  2. Means of subsistence: Two thousand euros (€ 2.000,00) which will be used for :
    1. The rent of equipped and furnished flats to accommodate  students ( groups of four / eight persons per flat) while taking care of the upkeep  (housework, laundry etc)
    2. Lunch at the Centre
    3. Breakfast and dinner at home

The meals will be prepared  in accordance with the cultural and individual preferences of the candidates as well as with a healthy dietetic balance adapted to the nutritional needs of the dancers.

N.B.: This does not include pocket money.

What are the assets of such a Centre?

    1. During les Rencontres Chorégraphiques de l’Afrique et de l’Océan Indien, the work done by the students will benefit from an optimal visibility thanks to the large  presence of international programme decision-makers and journalists.
    2. The 2008 regional tour (counting 4 dates per country) , which will be financed by the CMDC, will allow the students to share the results of their training with the different countries of origin.
    3. On coming back home in September 2008, the dancers will be immediately operational.
    4. Because of the making up of the study group, each student  goes back home with an address booklet and a network of connections at the regional and international levels.
    5. This approach comes within the scope of  a South-South cooperation , aiming , on the one hand,  at reducing the immigration to Europe and, on the other hand, at reducing the brain drain in this region by developing local and regional projects based on rigorous foundations.

What are the immediate expiry dates ?

As The Mediterranean Centre for Contemporary Dance is opening its doors on January 8 2007, the expiry date for the reception of application is on November 30 2006 at the latest.
